Sustainability
Planson International exists to provide global IT solutions to the United Nations and NGOs with a shared commitment to humanitarian goals. We compete intensely within transparent international procurement processes to deliver sustainable, cost-effective and reliable goods and services. We uphold the UN Global Compact and its ten principles supporting human rights, labor, the environment, and anti-corruption. We are acutely aware of the impact our decisions and actions have in the world. We have integrated the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals into all aspects of our work.
The Science Based Targets initiative is a collaboration between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
Environment
Planson is a participant in the Race to Zero.
We have had our emissions reduction targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative as consistent with levels required to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement. The targets covering greenhouse gas emissions from Planson’s operations (scopes 1 and 2) are consistent with reductions required to keep warming to 1.5°C, which the latest climate science has told us is needed to prevent the most damaging effects of climate change.
Our Scope 3 GHG emissions are driven by our upstream supply chain and downstream transport of goods to final destinations. Getting to zero for Scope 3 in our sector is a huge challenge. Our key manufacturers have committed to net zero GHG emissions by 2050. We track, audit and report to our stakeholders on their progress.
Circular Economy
Planson prioritizes manufacturers who have committed to advancing a closed-loop supply chain, using ocean-bound plastics and post-consumer recycled plastic in products and packaging, and reaching 100% renewable / recyclable packaging in the near term. We encourage and track extended product lifecycles and reparability. We offer IT Asset Disposal, Asset Recovery Services, and certified recycling in dozens of countries.
